The scene is set for the most thrilling running yet of the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials (GBR) (3-6 May), fourth leg of the HSBC FEI Classics™ 2012/2013, and a showdown between two riders who are at the height of their powers. Full story here.

Hawley Bennett-Awad and Gin & Juice took seventh place at the prestigious Rolex Kentucky Three-Day-Event (RK3DE) - the only CCI 4* event in North America, held April 25-28 in Lexington, KY, USA. See more here.

Canadian team members David Marcus of Campbellville, ON, Evi Strasser of Ste Adele, QC, Chistilot Boylen originally from Toronto, ON, now living in Rottingen, GER and Brittany Fraser of New Glasgow, NS, brought home the bronze medal from the team competition at the Wellington Nations Cup CDI-O3* presented by Stillpoint Farm, April 11 - 14 in Wellington, FL. APRIL 30

Canadians Jacqueline Brooks and Jaimey Irwin battled it out against the best dressage athletes from around the world, vying to be counted among the finest in their field at the Reem Acra FEI World Cup Dressage Final, held April 24-28 in Gothenburg, SWE. Brooks gained a score high enough to give her a coveted place in the Freestyle component. Find out more here.

APRIL 29

Canadians are in the ribbons at the 2013 CDI 3*/ 1*/Y/J Del Mar National Horse Show! Karen Pavicic and Mackenzie Theissen Ryall placed in the top three at the 2013 Del Mar National Horse Show held April 25-28 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds Arena.

Up and coming Junior Rider, Theissen Ryall of Winnipeg, MB, aboard Danao, her 15-year-old Deutsches Reit gelding pony, took second place in the FEI Junior Individual Test with a score of 61.184%. She also earned third place in the Junior Team Test on a score of 60.0%, just .856% behind second place.

The Pan American Equestrian Confederation is proposing to change the number of countries able to qualify for the Olympics through the Pan American Games from two countries to one country in the disciplines of Eventing and Dressage. Equine Canada has sent a strong objection: read more here.

A colt with Manitoba breeding is on its way to the Kentucky Derby! In an historic first, Goldencents is headed toward the Kentucky Derby after Saturday’s victory in one of the most prestigious races in North America, the $750,000 Santa Anita Derby. That win puts the 3-year-old, foaled by a Manitoba mare, among the top three point-earning colts pointed toward the Kentucky Derby that runs on Saturday May 4, the day before live racing opens at the Downs. Ontario's Premier Kathleen Wynne announced Friday that in addition to the agreement reached weeks ago with the Woodbine Entertainment Group (operators of Woodbine Racetrack and Mohawk Racetrack), the Ontario Government has also now reached three-year 'transition-funding' agreements with Grand River Raceway, The Raceway at the Western Fair District, Clinton Raceway and Hanover Raceway. "We expect more to come in the weeks to come," said Wynne, who added that "negotiations are still ongoing." Read the full story here.

If you can narrow it down from that, so much the better.

Canada comes second in the Nations Cup, Wellington, FL on March 1. 

The Canadian Team comprised of Mac Cone of King City, ON, Tiffany Foster of Schomberg, ON, Eric Lamaze of Schomberg, ON, and Ian Millar of Perth, ON, had a total score of five faults to place second among seven nations. The United States won with a final score of four faults, while Germany finished in third with a two round total of nine faults. Ireland was fourth with 11 faults.

New Microchip requirement for First Time FEI Registered Horses

Ottawa, Ontario - Owners are being informed that beginning January 1, 2013, all horses entering the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) system for the first time must be microchipped as per FEI regulations. This includes FEI Passports, FEI Recognition Cards and FEI Registrations. Read more here.
